10 Ways on How to Improve Writing Skills

1. Learn From Good Writers-

Try to think of a time when you read something that really inspired you or really caught your imagination. Use examples and passages from your favorite writers or favorite books to try to replicate what you felt when you first read them.

2. Slay Writer's Block-

Try a different approach at writing, such as writing a letter to someone, try not to focus on writing the article too much, think of your writing as if you were going to explain a story to someone and you were going to write it down first.

3. Note Your Common Mistakes and Skip Them-

Try not to let your spelling mistakes get in the way of your writing flow, if you come across a word that you know you misspell frequently, skip ahead and don't loose your writing juice.

What is the reason you are writing for, what are you hoping the end-result is, keep in mind what you want and what inspired you to the writing to begin with.

Try writing on real pen and paper and not just on your computer. Sometimes inspiration can strike in places where you don't normally have technology nearby, such as in your car waiting in traffic, pull out your pen and paper in these situations and write whatever you feel you can.

6. Organize Thoughts Before Writing-

Keep organized, use branches or webs or whatever works for you, organize your ideas, plots, characters and then just paint the picture with your writing abilities, with structures and organization patterns down to cue you already have half the battle won.

7. Set a Schedule-

Try keeping a regular writing time throughout the day, this will help your mind get focused and eventually you will train yourself to become the best writer you can be within a day in that time period, just like people wake up naturally without alarm clocks, your brain will magically know that it is time to write and apply all the skills you have been learning in on focused specific time, every day.

8. Keep Up With Vocabulary-

There are many good sites with writers tools such as rhyme dictionary or a thesaurus, you can use any of these tools online to increase your vocabulary and help broaden your writing capabilities

Find time to just write freely and let yourself just write whatever comes to your mind. The purpose of this is to just write however you can fluently write, a journal is not edited a journal is just jots of ideas and things you did throughout the day, journals can help you become a better more fluent writer.

10. Try Different Writing Software-
